Advice from Fenya Grew

This is Fenya! She is currently a junior at the University of New England, and she is a marine bio major! Fenya is on the field hockey team, and in her interview, she gives a lot of good advice about juggling athletics and academics. When asked how she handles juggling both, she responded with “My advice would be to learn good time management skills. Either keep a planner, schedule or anything that helps keep track of important dates. Sports take up a lot of time, so I would advise to schedule in homework/ studying time just to make sure it gets done and you don’t procrastinate.”

She then added, “Lastly, in our busy schedule it is important to take time off school and athletics and spend time with friends or doing something relaxing and enjoyable.” This is something that she also expands on later in the interview, emphasizing the importance of having friends outside of your sport, because it’s good to “spend time with people that have different hobbies and interests.” Fenya also mentioned that a major focus of your first year of college should be to “enjoy the freshman experience” adding “trust me, it’s the best.”
