Learning Outcome #3: Active Reading
I am going to very sincere here. This is the only active reading assignment that I could find in my notebook and on my computer with all of my college documents. This active reading assignment was covering “Making Conversation” by Kwame Anthony Appiah. One of the most important things for me when reading is simply understanding what the author is talking about. I found a place in the text, along with a few other places where I needed to take a note on what I was understanding from it. The author’s thoughts on relationships and just interactions are talked about when he says there is a possibility of helping each other and tearing each other down and how that is greater than ever before. This is in regards to social media and smart technology obviously. He makes the argument that we can either abuse this power, hence tearing each other down, or we can wield this power to the best of our ability, hence helping each other out. There are a couple more of these in this active reading assignment because I felt they were important things to understand in the text that may not be evident right away.
